SDR and RF software development
Signal processing, protocol decoders and radio tooling, from a €30 RTL-SDR to a full duplex LimeSDR. We wrote WaveShark, a wideband decoder that reads dozens of protocols at once.
WaveShark channelizes a wide span once and runs every decoder in it at the same time: ISM sensors, ADS-B, AIS, ACARS, APRS, POCSAG, DMR, TETRA, M17, LoRa and more. It drives RTL-SDR, HackRF, Airspy, LimeSDR and PlutoSDR hardware directly, and remote tuners over rtl_tcp, SpyServer and KiwiSDR. Unknown bursts get their coding inferred and their bits sliced out, which is where reverse engineering a new device starts.
Around it sit smaller tools. antenna-toolbox designs antennas from 36 templates, measures them with a NanoVNA and plans radio paths. sub-ghz-modem turns LoRa and FSK boards into a serial modem. radio_tool flashes firmware on DMR radios. adsb-overlay draws aircraft over a live camera feed.
If you have a signal to decode, a protocol to reverse engineer, or radio hardware that needs a host application, we can help.
Protocol decoders
OOK, FSK, LoRa, digital voice and data link decoders, from the IQ samples up.
Wideband receivers
Channelizing a wide span and running many decoders in parallel in real time.
Reverse engineering
Working out the modulation, coding and packet format of undocumented devices.
Hardware support
USB drivers for SDRs in Rust, and remote tuners over the network.
Antennas and planning
Antenna modelling, NanoVNA measurement and radio path planning.
Transmit
NFM, WFM and AM transmit on capable radios, and sub-GHz modem firmware.
WaveShark: Wireshark for the radio spectrum
Channelizes a wide span once and decodes every signal in it at the same time. ISM sensors, ADS-B, AIS, APRS, pagers, DMR, TETRA, LoRa and more, from a €30 RTL-SDR up to a full duplex LimeSDR.
★ 17 v0l/wavesharkradio_tool: DMR radio firmware tooling
Firmware flashing and packaging for DMR radios from TYT, Baofeng, Radioddity and others. Low-level C++ over USB against undocumented bootloaders, the embedded end of the stack.
★ 105 v0l/radio_tool- Can WaveShark decode our protocol?
- Probably, or it can be taught to. Sensor and remote protocols are described in a separate repository, waveshark-protocols, and new decoders can be added for the links you need to read.
- Do you work with custom radio hardware?
- Yes. We write host software and firmware for SDRs and transceiver modules, including boards built on SX126x and SX127x radios.
- Which languages do you use for DSP?
- Rust for receivers and decoders, with GPU compute through wgpu where it pays off, and C++ for firmware.
