BuggyGuard
Price to be announced
A safety controller and handheld remote for 48 V kids buggies. It sits between the pedal and the ESC, and the motor only gets throttle while the remote is in range and the controller is healthy.
Checking stock…
BuggyGuard sits between the pedal and the motor controller of a 48 V kids buggy with a sine wave ESC. The pedal never drives the motor directly. Throttle only reaches the ESC while the ESP32-S3 keeps feeding a hardware window watchdog, the IMU has not latched an impact, and the handheld remote is in range.
Three independent hardware paths cut power: a throttle shunt, the e-brake output and the ESC power lock. A hung processor, a dead processor or a lost radio link all stop the buggy. A normally closed e-stop loop drops the power lock with no software involved.
The remote is an ESP32-C3 on its own rechargeable cell with a 1.3 inch OLED, start/stop and speed buttons and a buzzer, talking to the buggy over ESP-NOW. The main board also has ports for front and rear ultrasonic sensors, a hall speed sensor and I2C.
This is a pre-order. The boards and firmware are still being finished. Pre-ordering only takes an email address and holds a unit from the first batch. You pay when it has been built and tested and is ready to ship. The hardware design is open source on GitHub.
