LNVPS: Bitcoin Lightning VPS hosting
Complete VPS platform built from scratch in Rust. Instant provisioning, Lightning and fiat payments, on-demand VM upgrades. In production at lnvps.net.
LNVPS is a VPS hosting company we built and run ourselves. A customer picks a plan, pays, and the virtual machine is provisioned on one of our Proxmox hosts as soon as the payment settles. Upgrades, renewals, reverse DNS and the serial console are all self-service.
The backend is a Rust workspace: the customer API and its background worker, an admin API, and supporting services for Nostr identity, network health monitoring, an AI support agent, a Kubernetes operator and an eBPF firewall.
Payment providers are pluggable and configured per company in the database. Lightning goes through LND, on-chain Bitcoin is watched for confirmations, and fiat is taken through Revolut Pay. A VM can be renewed by scanning an LNURL-pay code, or renew itself over Nostr Wallet Connect with nobody touching it. EU VAT numbers are checked against VIES and tax is applied per country.
We run the network underneath it too, on our own autonomous system, AS214973. The API talks to the routers directly to pin ARP entries against spoofing, publish forward and reverse DNS through Cloudflare, and manage BGP sessions and tunnels.
Provisioning
Proxmox in production, with templates, custom specs, on-demand upgrades, per-VM firewall rules and a WebSocket serial console.
Payments
Lightning via LND, on-chain Bitcoin, Revolut Pay, LNURL-pay renewals, NWC auto-renewal and a referral program with automated payouts.
Sign-in
Nostr NIP-98 HTTP auth, OAuth and OIDC (Google, GitHub, Apple, Facebook), and passwordless passkeys.
Notifications
Email, Nostr direct messages, Telegram and WhatsApp, plus an AI support agent answering email and Nostr mentions.
Security
An XDP eBPF SYN-flood rate limiter on every host and AES-GCM encryption on sensitive database columns.
Observability
Per-VM CPU, memory, disk and network metrics, Prometheus health checks and a Grafana dashboard.
